The newest HOT BUTTON issue since last years investigations into insurance kickbacks, have revealed discrepencies in claims reviewer practices. As an independent adjuster NEVER offer any kind of gratuity even if implied, to outside individuals or internal associates (IE claims reviewers). Also if you are asked to make changes to your submitted claim that does not agree with your professional assesment as an INDEPENDENT adjuster, you by law are required to document changes and why changes were implemented. You should discuss claim reviewer practices with your storm management company before taking assignments. You should know if there is one on one review (where personality conflicts could arise) and be very clear on what your storm management policies are! They should have a written policy in effect addressing the above issues.

Investigations have been under way in New York and Connecticut into whether firms accepted money to steer business to insurers who paid the biggest bonus commissions.
I agree that these issues have effected changes within the internal workings of the insurance industry in general. All insurance companies regardless of the services they provide should have a code of ethcs in place and a written policy to that effect.
